It’s EASY and FUN!
Here’s a few expert tips from Rakonto’s CEO, Christian Napier on how to capture precious stories using Zoom and how to upload them into the platform.
First things first, set clear expectations with your meeting participants. Share in advance questions or story topics that you want to discuss on the call. Inform them that you intend to record the call and share it with others.
Once you’ve done that, if any of the participants are unfamiliar with Zoom, you may want to do a test in advance to make sure they can connect successfully.
Next, make sure Zoom is set up properly to record. Check your recording settings. If you are comfortable with video editing, you may want to record separate audio for each participant, as some may speak more quietly than others. You can then adjust their individual audio levels in a third-party video editing tool. You may also want to record video during screen sharing so you can see people’s reactions when a screen is shared.
Now, when you begin the call, welcome everyone. Thank them for participating, and express genuine enthusiasm for the opportunity to hear their stories. Your excitement will be infectious and help participants feel at ease. Remind them of the topics or questions or stories you want them to share. When you’re ready, inform them you’re going to start recording and begin.
During the call, use photos to help prompt storytelling by sharing your screen and displaying a photo, or just hold a picture up to the camera, and ask people to tell the story behind the photo.
When everyone has finished telling their stories, stop recording and thank everyone again for participating. Let them know you’ll send them a link via email or social media to view their stories.
Zoom will convert your recording once your meeting is finished so you can save it and upload your Zoom recording into Rakonto.
Log into your Rakonto account. Press New Story and give it a title and a brief description. Then, drag and drop or upload your Zoom recording, and click Save. Rakonto will upload your recording, process it and place it into your collection.
Click on the recording to view and edit the story. Then, you have the option to edit the automated transcript, identify people within the story, the places and events mentioned in the Zoom call, and upload photos to illustrate and make it more compelling along with files or documents.
Now you have created a marvelous story ready for sharing with the meeting participants.
